Annual Industry Meeting and Awards Breakfast: Modernization in Action

In early November, the Apprenticeship Board hosted industry partners and stakeholders during the 2023 Annual Industry Meeting and Awards Breakfast (AIM).

Highlights of the event included:

  • Apprenticeship Board Chair Trent Soholt provided an update on the accomplishments of the Apprenticeship Board.
  • Associate Deputy Minister of Labour, Skills and Immigration, Nicole Johnson Morrison provided greetings and congratulations from the province.
  • Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency CEO Michelle Bussey presented an overview of the Agency’s 2022-23 year in review and the Actions to Accelerate the Growth of Skilled Trades.
  • A facilitated session by Senior Education Strategist Lisa Frizzell to seek input from industry and partners about their role in achieving a modern apprenticeship system.

The Apprenticeship Awards of Excellence recipients were also unveiled during the AIM. Congratulations to Mathias Probst, Executive Chef at The Carleton, for receiving the Apprenticeship Award of Excellence, and Joy St. Germain, New Construction Supervisor at A.F. Theriault & Son Ltd, for receiving the Apprenticeship Ally Award of Excellence.

Developing Cross-Cultural Expertise

The Reach is a new talk show-style video podcast that explores some of the issues that impact our capacity to be inclusive in the workplace and beyond. Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency now on Instagram

Earlier this year, the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency launched its official Instagram account @nsapprenticeship.

Instagram’s mobile-first approach and visual interface, which caters to a younger demographic, will allow the Agency to connect more effectively with youth, students, and apprentices.

The launch of the new Instagram account marks an important expansion in the Agency’s digital presence, complementing the existing FacebookX (formerly known as Twitter), LinkedIn, and YouTube accounts.
