There are currently 63 designated trades in Nova Scotia.

      Red Seal trades
(Individuals who have the Red Seal endorsement on their certificate have successfully completed the Interprovincial Red Seal examination in their trade. The Red Seal program represents industry's recognition of an interprovincial standard of excellence for the skilled trades.)
     

12 are Compulsory Certified* under the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act

      8 are Compulsory Certified* under a regulatory authority other than the Apprenticeship & Trades Qualifications Act
      * Compulsory Certified Trades: To work in these trades, a license, certificate
or apprentice/trainee status is required.
         
Notes: Currently, apprenticeship training is not offered in these trades in Nova Scotia.

 Ironworker (Reinforcing)     Cuts, bends, lays out, places, and welds reinforcing steel rods, welded wire fabric and composite materials in poured concrete products and structures. Places and stresses post-tensioning systems.

    Installs and reinforces steel components, precast concrete and glued laminated timber products. Also erects pre-engineered buildings, scaffolds, cranes, hoists and derricks.
